Isn't Imola shorter? Renting a F3000 car would have been cheaper, and it may have made the grid! It wasn't all the fault of the engine, but it was lacking power and the chassis wasn't the best either...

@peterdaviesracing And that wasn't his worst result. In Imola, he did a lap at 7min16secs (!) He would be lapped several times by the time he completed a single lap...

LOL. Take a touring car of that time and I'll lap faster, I could even drink a tea while completing the lap:P

@peterdaviesracing For that particular race, the Onyx team did not pre-qualified. Both JJ Lehto and Gregor Foitek made it through qualifying with Lehto retiring and Foitek finishing 15th. And one other thing. When the commentator says "In fact Bruno did one slow lap", he did it in (incredibly) 4:04, when the next slowest driver, Langes in the Eurobrun he lapped at 1:40...

I've seen all cars on the list in the video, except for the Monteverdi-Onyx. I am not sure if they didn't have to pre-qualify at that stage or had already folded. The car had a good base actually, just not for the tight funds and limited spare parts. They were usually around the Larrousse.

Anyone find this more exciting than watching the final round of qualyfing in 2011 F1? The 40 car plus field of cars trying to qualify for the race, with superteams like Mclaren and Ferrari on one end with shoestring budget farces like Coloni and Life at the other, so awesome!
