British soldier speaks out against Afghan war

A serving British soldier who's refusing to return to Afghanistan has delivered a letter to Prime Minister Gordon Brown urging him to "bring the soldiers home". Lance Corporal Joe Glenton said the Afghan people are very resilient and therefore the army would not make any progress. He faces a court martial next week for refusing to go back to Afghanistan and perhaps two years in jail. Roshan Muhammed Salih reports from London.

it's a pity that LCpl Glenton didn't find his moral principles after his tour in Kandahar air base. Instead he waited a year and another posting to a unit that would go back before he declared his conscientious objection. He then went AWOL instead of giving his notice to terminate employment with the army. After 2 years AWOL in Australia he then returned as a conscientious objector and 'hero'. Retrospective justification much?

@theonewillcome, You could'nt be further from the truth. I came back from Afganistan back in April. Before we left Germany we had about three or four seperate briefings reference the Political History of the country, why decisions have been made to send us there alongside the US, what has been achieved so far and what our final objectives our. Just out of interest, what was your source of information regarding your comment???
