THE MUSIC ON THIS VIDEO, "AMAZING GRACE" IS BY CELTIC WOMAN FROM THEIR ALBUM, "SONGS FROM THE HEART". THEY ARE SIMPLY THE VOICES OF ANGELS.

I'M A MARINE, (ACTIVE, 1959-1963) AND A NYC TRANSIT POLICE DETECTIVE ( ACTIVE,1966-1992)

ONCE A MARINE ALWAYS A MARINE. AND YES, NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT POLICE ARE A UNIQUE BAND OF BROTHERS AS WELL. SO, ONCE A TRANSIT COP, ALWAYS A TRANSIT COP.

ABOUT MY VIDEO:

I DIDN'T EXPECT WHAT HAPPENED.

I TOOK PHOTOS OF THE VETERANS DAY PARADE, NOV. 11, 2010 AND I WORKED HARD PUTTING THE PHOTOS INTO A VIDEO. BUT WHEN I FINISHED AND VIEWED IT MY EYES BEGAN TO BURN AND SOMEHOW THE SCREEN BECAME BLURRY.

IT WAS MY FIRST YOUTUBE VIDEO BUT WHEN THE PHOTOS AND GREAT MUSIC WERE PUT TOGETHER I FELT I HAD SOMETHING THAT HAD TO BE SHARED.

I SAW THE FACES OF OUR MILITARY'S SURVIVING FAMILIES WITH THE UNBEARABLE PAIN OF LOSS WRITTEN ACROSS THEM.

I SAW CREASED, SERVICE-STRIPED FACES OF VETERANS SO GLAD TO BE ALIVE BUT WHO'S FACES BORE EYES THAT SAW BROTHERS AND SISTERS FALL.

BUT I ALSO SAW A RADIANCE ON THE FACES OF THOSE WHO WERE HONORED AND THOSE WHO HONORED, FROM OLD SALTS TO TINY TOTS. A JOY SEEN ONLY ON FACES OF FREE PEOPLE. IT WAS SIMPLY AMAZING AND I WAS IN ABSOLUTE AWE.

SO WITH THIS VIDEO, I ALONG WITH NEW YORK CITY AND AMERICA, SALUTE THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY. MOST ESPECIALLY THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE DIED FOR US AND THE FAMILIES THEY LEFT BEHIND.

TO ALL MY FELLOW MARINES, "SEMPER FIDELIS", ALWAYS FAITHFUL.

AND TO ALL OF OUR ARMED FORCES, PAST AND PRESENT, LIVING AND DEAD, "SEMPER GRATUS", ALWAYS GRATEFUL.

A MOST SINCERE GRATITUDE TO THE RETURNING TROOPS FROM OUR RECENT WARS. WELCOME HOME!

THIS GRATITUDE ALL AMERICANS NEED TO SHARE, NOT ONLY IN OUR HEARTS BUT DEMONSTRATED CONCRETELY IN THE SUPPORT OF THE SURVIVORS AND THEIR FAMILIES, MEDICALLY AND FINANCIALLY. YES, GIVE THEM THANKS BUT TO ALL OF YOU WHO CAN, GIVE THEM JOBS TOO. THESE WARRIORS EARNED IT AND MOST CERTAINLY DESERVE IT.

GOD BLESS THESE SOULS WHO HAVE RAISED THEIR HANDS TO SERVE EARTH'S FLAGSHIP OF FREEDOM.

GOD BLESS THAT FLAGSHIP, AMERICA.

GOD BLESS ALL OF EARTH'S FREEDOM STARVED CITIZENS WHO RAISE THEIR VOICES AND THEIR FISTS IN REVOLUTION, AS COLONISTS ONCE DID TO GIVE BIRTH TO OUR FREE AMERICAN NATION.

MAY ALL OF THE ABOVE PERSEVERE AND WITH AMAZING GRACE, PREVAIL.

  • Bri, Thanks for the forward. It would be good for as many Americans and American vets to see it as possible.

    Be well,

    Lee

  • I REMOVED A COMMENT FROM THIS CHANNEL THAT I FOUND OFFENSIVE TO AMERICANS.

BUT THE PERSON WHO WROTE THE COMMENT SPEAKS IN A FREE NATION THAT WON'T GAS TO DEATH PEOPLE FOR THEIR COMMENTS.

FOR 235 YEARS AMERICA'S DEFENDERS HAVE BLED FOR FREE SPEECH.

IN THEIR HONOR I'LL RESTORE THE COMMENT:

If you substutituded the american flag for a nazi flag and looked at how people are turning into sheepeople, you might see this in a different light.

  • You are so right. I sit corrected. Hope you liked the video. Lee

  • you did a wonderful job honoring our brave men and women. Wonderful tribute, I am going to share this Veterans Day 2011 with all my friends!

  • I was in USAF 1959-1963. What a fantastic video. We have a cable pgm. up here in Auburn, MA called the Route 9 Veterans Forum, I have forward your video to them in hopes it will air. Thank you so much for putting this together.

    God Bless and take care.

  • Our social studies teacher showed us this today, and the whole class was shedding tears for all who shed their blood for our freedom. Because of them, we have freedom.

  • Thank you for sharing this. Beautiful.

  • So, So Beautiful!!!! My tears are shedding right now, thinking of all the loss and how much those are honored and most certainly SHOULD be honored!!! What a wonderful tribute and I hope this will restore some of the Patriotism in OUR AMERICA and what it stands for. My late husband will be so proud to see this! I just wish he could have.

  • Living in NYC I was right there shouting out "thank you for your service".

  • Great video!!!

  • One of the best presentations I have seen. I say God Bless all the Allied Veterans and their families. In some countries the Veterans do not get the recognition they have in the United States and I ashamed to say Canada is one of the countries that has a reputation of not treating their Veterans with respect and dignity. But the Canadian Veterans are begining to join together and fight the oppression and slowly case by case they are winning.
