Yesterday's post was about how much people believe our life is fate and/or destiny. In a comment discussion, the words miracle and luck came up, and it made me wonder where people think this comes from. I see how the terms could lend themselves to the idea of fate.
Merriam-Webster.com defines a miracle as 1: an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs 2: an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment 3 Christian Science: a divinely natural phenomenon experienced humanly as the fulfillment of spiritual law.
Luck is defined by the same source as 1 a: a force that brings good fortune or adversity b: the events or circumstances that operate for or against an individual 2: favoring chance; also: success.

Caption: This is a golden neko (Japanese for cat), which is believed to bring good luck for businesses because of its gold color and arm up. Other good luck charms include 4 leaf clover, horseshoe, frogs, rabbits foot, amulets, and a trinket given by someone. It could even be a person. Ask Elvis (video song Good Luck Charm).
Many people believe in miracles. We could chock it up to those darn fairy tale books read to us as kids. Its that hope part of us that wants to believe that fairy tales do come true.
Many people tend to carry good luck charms. In their car or going to Las Vegas or when rubbing off results on a lottery ticket. What are they/we counting on?
Are we hoping that we can have some kind of influence in fate?
Where do you think miracles and luck come from? If you're spiritual or religious, your answer may be more apparent. What about those that don't consider themselves to be? Where do you believe they come from? Again, this question is following the concept of fate.
How do you define a miracle and/or luck?

Luck? Miracles? I don't believe either of them exist.

Interesting. Have you witnessed the birth of a baby IRL or close to it? I recall "miracle" recurring in my head after being with my sister and her husband at the hospital for the birth of my nephew after 17 hours.

Miracles are required for our daily existence. It's the glue of the universe, the non-causal essence of quantum mechanics that lies at the foundation of all of physics at the level of the very very tiny. Fundamentally, science cannot explain the simplest of all events, the quantum event... All of so called luck is in fact, some sort of mind event created by some sort of consciousness, somewhere.

A miracle started from God, I believe. Miracles happens everyday; not just in olden times, but everyday. But I do believe they come from God

Have you ever read Small Miracles? What an amazing book filled with jaw dropping, tear-jerking stories. It inspires me to have faith through it all, especially the "downs."
