Salt water will kill many plants. And enough use with keep most plants from growing in that spot (literally salting the earth). Vinegar does work and will change the pH of the soil. Some plants, often the ones you want to plant, may not grow there for some time if you radically change the pH. Alos, man "vinegars" at 15 or more percent are acetic acid. And can cause eye damage if you don't wear protective gear.

Put a torch with a long handle on a bottle of propane and just walk along and burn off your weeds. This is a very common method in Europe with excellent INSTANT results. They sell them at Lowes and Menards. Probably Home Depot but I'm not sure since I don't shop there myself. I like this way because you can get right in next to your plants you want to keep and not disturb the roots. That being said, hit the weed root/soil area with the flame for several seconds and you'll be weed free for weeks.

I actually appreciate this video a lot. Just moved into a new place and the driveway is covered with weeds. I'm going to burn them with a propane torch but first I wanted to kill them. Was going to try vinegar but now I'm just going to go get some round-up
