The Language Situation scenes are supposed to complement any regular language course by providing a sort of language "street experience".

You can see "real" people talking their "real" language. They are all quite taken by surprise in this unusual situation (somebody asking silly questions) and they react very spontaneously.

@idiomasaur i can confirm the german friendliness, only been to Frankfurt and many people were smiling to me and my gf back then (for some reason) and were being very polite.

also german sales persons in stores smiling all the time and everyone being so overwhelmingly helpful. i've been told the urban myth that german people are cold but that is utter nonsense, they are great.

@Mtbfanro One thing after watching a few of these videos I have noticed is when people introduce themselves or say good-bye (Tschuss, bis bald, usw (usw is basically an acronym but means etcetera)) they are incredibly nice. However whist speaking they often sound very rude, some of them are nice but many sound rude to me. I am Canadian and I find it very hard to tell if Germans are angry because many speak with the same intonation all the time, also I find they mumble hard just like us too.

Ich finde Deutsche ganz einfacher als Englisch zu verstehen wenn man spricht. At least the way a word is written , it is also pronounced...---not the same for english.

@daszzo lol I completely agree, I've studying for 4 months and i find it very hard to understand what they say without reading the subtitles...

Very clever way of teaching German and entertaining. Much more entertaining than sitting in a classroom with the nose stuck in a book. Glücklicherweise habe ich es in Hamburg gelernt da ich dort 12.5 Jahre gelebt habe. Auf dieser Weise kann ich zuhören und es üben.

@kbillysupersounds Not exactly. He's making fun of people by asking for the Bering Strait. „Straße“ ist ambiguous for «road» as well as for «strait» in German.

@Mesodera Yes.. haha,, when i was in High school i learnt Deutsch, and it's really hard to pronounce the word Entschuldigung .. Really,, hahaha but now, of course i remember it... hehehe ich liebe Deutsch.. (y)
