About 11pm on the day she died, Channel 4 began a TV obituary of Diana, Princess of Wales. Here is the first part of it. It was a remarkable piece of programme making, less than 24 hours after her death. It's also notable for running for almost an hour with no commercials.
Part 1 begins with her early life, family background and her engagement to Prince Charles in 1981.

People always have a soft spot for princesses. How many fairy tales we have seen that princess marry the prince , live happily ever-after and whole kingdom rejoice.
And Diana was an ideal princess, Charles is a wimp.

It has subsequently emerged that the Queen Mother and her friend and lady-in-waiting Lady Fermoy, Diana's grandmother, planned the match friom when Charles and Diana were children. Unfortuantely these two old dowagers came from the stable where a girl married becuase her dynasty told her to and for their benefit, and if your husband had a mistress or indeed several you put up with it :o(

Aw- Poor Princess Diana. Why did she marry a bastard like Big Ears? She was a lovely, beautiful caring girl who deserved so much better than that. I love you, Princess, and I still hold the Royal Family and the filth media to account over your death to this day.
