Wow it takes courage to admit what Marlena admitted! It's just plain honest and human to feel relieved that you're still alive; powerful scene -3

Definitely agreed! It means going to that selfish part of us, and not many people can admit they are happy to be alive when someone has died...

She was so good! Watching that, I can't believe soaps ever had that much depth! Now, they're so focused on crazy plot twists; that's not what makes stories compelling.

I cried watching this - I can't imagine her pain, of having to love someone so intensely and yet be in such a relationship your whole life - only for it to culminate so tragically - and it was incredible hearing Marlena say: "I'm relieved it wasn't me," b/c people always expect her to say: "I wish it were me" - she's human, too

that is my fav part! When she says I'm relieved it wasn't me. I mean it is so hard to actually say that about yourself, that you are glad you are safe, and yet still feel empathy for the one who isn't. Most people feel too guilty to say it.

wow. i remember watching this in the 80's and deidre put in such a powerful performance. she won an award for that year also. she is without a doubt the best. i also said she does have beautiful hands, very long like piano hands. but then again, she just beautiful in ever way.
