Histoplasmosis is a disease caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. It is a dimorphic fungus that remains in a mycelial form at ambient temperatures and grows as yeast at body temperature in mammals. Its symptoms vary greatly, but the disease primarily affects the lungs.

  • Histoplasmosis is mainly contracted outdoors from inhaling airborne fungus or in infested indoor areas such as chicken coops, bat infested caves, old buildings with bats infestation, areas with heavy birds droppings. In some cases the fungus infested areas gets disturbed then airborne Histoplasma Capsulatum enters a building through a routs of entry or via air intake.
