I made this video in hopes of someone coming up with a new idea for the frozen water. Is there anything we can use that will stay colder longer?

  • ti to put wood shavings in the water bottles to keep it colder.

    look at - Pie-crete - on youtube

  • @dmoney1dm8512 I'm glad you mentioned that. I actually tried that a few months ago. I tried 4 bottles with different amounts of saw dust in it. It did not last as long as the regular bottle did. I was thinking of using paper next time, But I might try wood shavings as well. Thanks, Lonny

  • Hi, nice cooler

Can you not disconnect the LED's?

I have no idea what could help to keep it cold for a longer period.

What might help to get more efficiency is to make a separation in the middle ( till about 2 or 3 inches from the bottom ) of the cooler to make the air flow all the way down and then back up to the exit and make the air colder.

    Good luck.

    Greetings

    Erik

  • @rikkiesix Thanks for the suggestion about the seperation, I will try it. On the topic of the led lights, will probably take apart the fan to see if I can get the leds out of there. Thanks and talk to you later, Lonny

  • which fan pushes more air?

  • @doug2877 Hey Doug, The loud car fan pushes more air. I have been thinking of hooking up 2 computer fans to make up for the flow difference.1 for the intake and 1 for the exhaust. Talk to you later, Lonny

  • was thinking maybe a copper/iron or some other metal rod through the bottles could possible keep the ice from defrosting, this is simple chemistry of which i have know knowledge of lol.

  • My homemade cooler is a little bit bigger than yours, so I can put bigger bottles inside and the bigger the bottles are the longer they last frozen. I use one 5 liters bottle(about 1.321gl) and two coke bottles of 2(about .528) liters each ate the same time and they last all night and still half frozen in the morning. Sorry for the measures but I live in Mexico. Hope this information to be useful.

  • solid marble slabs. I found a sqare of counter top in trash a few years ago during winter. Brought it in. It was freezing cold. I placed it aside in the warm house. a day latter I figured I would wash it off. It was still very cold and after I wiped it down. with wet wash rag it formed frost. I was thinking several pieces cut to shape and layered so air would blow between might make good cooling fins you could take out and put in freezer. it would be very heavy though.

  • Put some cold water in the ice chest with the ice water bottle.

  • If you do use two fans, Stack then one on top of each other this will increase the force. If you use a fan on the output the water ie Humidity condensating will slowly damage the Fan electronics. Cool, Idea, Try using a Deep Freezer, I hear they get colder.
