Firefighters responded to a working structure fire Thursday, December 8, 2011. Jackson Township members were toned out at 2:52 p.m. for a reported fire on Country Street NW. En route units called in, reporting seeing smoke from Arlington Avenue, and called in a working fire. when units got on scene, they stretched lines up a winding driveway to the structure. Due to tree cover, firefighters were unable to use their Tower Ladder on the house's roof. Close to a mile of supply line was laid out to the trucks near the structure from the closest hydrants, which eventually led to a shutdown of Strausser Street to allow the deployment of the hose to apparatus. Mutual aid was requested from several neighboring departments to help control the blaze. Firefighters eventually got control of the fire by around 7:30 p.m. In total, eight different departments arrived on scene, including Jackson Township, Canal Fulton, Lawrence Township, Green, New Franklin, Plain Township, North Canton, and Massillon.
