I agree with your opinion but I'd rather have more firepower. I really like the Penn and Teller style you guys do too. But besides all that I have to say one thing... your daughter is absolutely gorgeous!

You need a firearm and training for each able bodied family member. You need ample ammo. You need some stored food, starting with what you usually eat then beans and rice and the usual canned and freeze dried. You need a water source in the area and means to clean it. You need to be able to stay warm and cook. IF YOU REALLY THINK THE END IS NEAR THEN GET A SMALL FARM WITH MEAT, EGGS AND VEGETABLES. Farms with many crops, chickens and meat animals did not even notice the great Depression.

Metals can be used for trade, but unlike the dollar shop keepers are not required to take it in trade. At these prices and a 80% chance of a turn around if Obama is voted out, I would not purchase Gold or Silver now. Just keep the right goods to trade. Or trade services for what you need. Barter! With the amorale society here on youtube I suggest owning and ability to use firearms is a must. Regardless of what you have, if there a WROL situation even for a short time you are at high risk.

12-11 Too late to buy Gold and Silver because of the price. I have been selling mine while prices are high and investing in Oil stock now. Because it looks like we are going to recover! And of course, I have a small armory, body armor, even (a helmet and gasmask I was given free). Water is avail, just be able to clean it. I have food and grow food. Gold and Silver are only good to buy from those that have a lot of extra. You cannot eat G or S. Main rifle M-1A (M-14) out distances 5.56 (223).

Bean, beans, beans! If you stock up on beans you will not only have a stock pile of protein that you can trade with but also a seed that can help sustain a family in crisis of hunger.
When meat has all but been depleted your source of beans will become a very valuable commodity.
The girl is funny, though, true in heart. Thanks for giving me little laughs! I mean that respectably.
Guns are not my priority as helping others to survive is. Not that I don't bear arms.

@poetsguide because america imports pretty much everything except guns and wars and when the people of the world wake up and stop accepting counterfiat dollars as the the world reserve currency america will face hyper-inflation and as the demand for the dollar dwindles...that will leave them with nothing to buy because countries will stop accepting and trading in worthless dollars...and in case you haven't noticed things have changed in the past 100 years..nothing backs paper currency
Makes sense! Are you an economist or a historian? Are you going to make more videos. I think they are worthwhile and interesting.

@LTCGuffy I believe in a synthesis of history and economics as a way to plan for the future. There will be more videos around Christmas.

You can have all the silver and gold in the world but if there's nothing to buy it's pretty useless...and if everyone has a gun they'd probably just shoot you and eat you...good luck

@creedstat What makes you think that just because I have gold and silver, that I don't have a self defense plan as well? Come over and test me sometime. It's a pass or fail exam.

@creedstat Why do everybody thinks when SHTF there will be nothing to buy. My 95 year old grandmother was alive when the Japanese and Americans leveled Manila during World War II. This was as close we could probably get to a apocalypse. Even so, commerce was still ongoing in relatively undamaged areas of the Philippines like the country side. Merchants still had food and goods to trade. My grandmother's gold jewelry collection fed her family for a year.

Thank you very much for your story based on historical fact, rather than big budget apocalypse movies! As you said, Manila was the very picture of a completely devasted city as horrible as any Terminator movie. Give some credit to humanity. We destroy, but we also rebuild. During that rebuilding process, both gold and silver have proven in the past to be quite literally lifesavers. Long live free market commerce as well!
