http://www.jivenation.co.uk/ JIVENATION run regular weekly classes in London. See website above.
I have made an error in the video title editing....... The spin shown is a CLOCKWISE spin, and I have edited it as Anti-clockwise ( Counter Clockwise )
I have put a Youtube Annotation over the top to try & correct this.
Here is a sum up:
CLOCKWISE spin, step on to the RIGHT foot, spin on it, then " step back onto your right foot behind you afterwards( for balance )
ANTI-CLOCKWISE spin: step onto LEFT foot, to spin, stepping back onto the left foot after spinningsame instructions.

This is from a Beginners Intensive Course held at Zulus 6 6 Nov 2007 .
Lesson By Roger Chin & Barbara.
The rest of video, ( footwork & spinning ) is by Simon Borland. Freestyle Demo: Simon & Barbara.

The moves are :
Figure of 8 ( without changing places )
Yoyo (Changing places)
(then handchange) & into a Wurlitzer move ( with both of you spinning )
catch with left hand
REPEAT the sequence.

Details here for The Figure of 8:
instructions are for the LEAD ( which in this video is Roger )

Start left hand. Bring your own right hand across & change hands and then raise & turn yourself under your own right arm.( that is anticlockwise direction )
As soon as you come around to face the lady, you "Dip & Turn her clockwise one turn. (with your right arm )...[this action is similar to a piston turning a crankshaft]
Then return the lady ( in other words, turn her back again one turn anticlockwise )

......has anyone read this far ???

If anyone wants the other moves here describing, please contact me through youtube & I will then add them on .

  • I understand from Gerry that Simon had actually fallen off the stage during each of the 43 previous "takes" of this clip, which is perhaps not surprising in view of the fact that he was performing in near total darkness. The spirit of Gallipoli clearly lives on.

  • We are getting an even smaller stage & our lessons are now in total darkness. We are carbon neutral at last. Those X ray specs are issued on the door and really work !

  • Gerry puts the boot in again :-

Czerniakowska, is it your computer graphics card that is past its sell by date .. or just your eyesight that is past it. Those NHS specs of yours might need cleaning or replacing ?

  • Details of the moves are under ( ...more )

to the Right Hand side of the YouTube screen.

  • The purpose of these clips is to help the dancers ( especially the leaders ) who come to the JiveNation classes. I used to write details of the moves in a notebook, but found after a week the notes were useless. These clips are a video-notebook, & nothing more. If the rest of the world find them useful too, then that is very nice & a bonus for JiveNation !

I do not appear in any of these videos !

  • Thank you for your comments. Please do comment on any of my videos.

For new dancers there are websites that give detailed simple lessons. One is danceyourselfdizzy dot com

Also please search Megaroc on youtube for detailed simple lessons.
