Dessa - Castor, The Twin (2011)

Lyrics:
Oh, that trouble you've been looking for
Came looking for you
Shouldn't open doors you don't plan to walk through
If I were you I'd pay my dues before I lose
That trouble you've been looking for
Came looking for you
Shouldn't open doors you don't plan to walk through
If I were you I'd pay my dues...

You've' got a lot of long answers
To a lot of short questions
You've had a lot of last chances
A run of lucky guesses
Say your nerves can stand it
You bet it all and then step back
But if you're steady handed
Then that glass is shaking, babe
I think you're gonna find out
That you wore your luck out
That your word's not worth much here

Oh, that trouble you've been looking for
Came looking for you
Shouldn't open doors you don't plan to walk through
If I were you I'd pay my dues before I lose
That trouble you've been looking for
Came looking for you
Shouldn't open doors you don't plan to walk through
If I were you I'd pay my dues...

The angel on your shoulder
She doesn't say too much these days
And it seems you're getting older
Faster than most men your age
Cause you toss and you tumble like dice in your bed
No lightning just thunder it roars in your head
That old dream full of numbers that come when they're called
You wait and you wonder who'll take on your odds

  • Love this real music!

  • Man, stupid people bring out the worst in me.

  • If your steady handed, then that glass is shaking bad.

  • to Ian1980Si: if you dont like it, you dont connect to it. simple as that, but to disrepsect and say its not remotly talented; you just sound like and ignorant, sad, fool. As far as being intellectual? who says their trying to be? they bring up different perspectives of how people live their lives.the flow and talent it takes to be big? you mean selling out? silly fuck

  • @Ian1980Si As POS said, "We make our own, and if they don't feel it, then we are not for them. And that's cool."

No need to make the jump from "I don't like this" to "people who like this are inferior".

Out of curiosity, what would be an example of some "quality" rap from one of these coasts you're such a fan of?

  • I can say with absolute certainty that Dessa is one of my favorite artists, and that feels good to be so sure about something... it only happens every once in a while.

  • @jesserawls1991 I'm pretty sure the only new song is Beekeeper, and the rest are re-dos. I don't have my copy yet, but I listened to the previews on itunes and they're fantastic~

  • @Ian1980Si I totally understand not liking Doomtree, even though I don't agree. But not liking the entire Midwest? One Be Lo? Common? Kanye?

  • @Ian1980Si Ah, I see. I don't think it's about quality or being big with them though, I think it's just about making music for the fans that they do have and also about loving what they do. Also, there are some good emcees from the midwest, I find that east and west coast rappers get too repetitive, especially southern rappers. I guess it just depends on where you're from though.
