Sometimes James Kalm just turns on the camera and lets it run. Such was the case when he dropped in to view Andrew Musullo's "Recent Paintings" at Feature Inc. Gallery. During the interview Jerry Saltz pays homage to Andrew and his practice, an endorsement thousands of New York Artists would die for. Sometimes, raw is good. Expect a full report.
I like the wierd music that accompanies this video and the way that Masullo handles
the interview, he is a real pro. When Jerry Saltz comes in Masullo acts like his
next door neighbor is walking in, no big deal. A great video

andrew why are there so many blotches on your canvas, are they intentional defects?

And the paint! It was so creamy and the colors so bright (how come MY paint was never like that)!? And oh, those wonderfully clashing color combinations! I remember one of my kitty’s faces was various shades of green set off by an orange and pink background!!

Typhoon Andy began losing steam and that’s when the paint-by-numbers entered the picture. I had a hunch they’d be the perfect antidote to ten content-heavy years: I could put my mind on hold while painting pretty pictures and have a few chuckles to boot.

I think Andrew Masullo is the cats meow in the arts world, his paintings are so
terrific and the colors are fantastic.
