Comment and vote folks!Lyrics:
We were forty miles from Albany forget it I never shall
what a terrible storm we had one night on the E'ri'e canal
Oh the E'ri'e was arising and the gin was getting low,
and I scarcely think we'll get a drink 'till we get to Buffalo,
'till we get to Buffalo".
The barge was full of barley and the crew was full of rye,
the Captain he looked down on me with a ricked wicked eye.
Oh the E'ri'e was arising and the gin was getting low,
and I scarcely think we're gonna get a little drink 'till we get to Buffalo,
'till we get to Buffalo.
Well the Captain he stood up on the deck with a spy glass in his hand,
and the fog was so god darn thick that he couldn't spy the land.
Oh the E'ri'e was arising and the gin was getting low,
and I scarcely think we're gonna get a little drink 'till we get to Buffalo, 'till we get to Buffalo.
Now two days out from Syracuse the vessel struck a shoal,
we liked all been floundered on a chuckalauka coal.
Oh the E'ri'e was arising and the gin was getting low,
and I scarcely think we're gonna get a little drink 'till we get to Buffalo,
'till we get to Buffalo.
The cook she was a grand ole gal. She wore a ragged dress.
We hoisted her upon the pole as a signal of distress.
Oh the E'ri'e was arising and the gin was getting low,
and I scarcely think we're gonna get a little drink 'till we get to Buffalo,
'till we get to Buffalo.
Now the Captain he got married, the cook she went to jail,
and I'm the only son of a 'sea cook' left to tell the tale".
Oh the E'ri'e was arising and the gin was getting low,
and I scarcely think we'll get a drink 'till we get to Buffalo,
'till we get to Buffalo...
Oh the E'ri'e was arising and the gin was getting low,
and I scarcely think we're gonna get a little drink 'till we get to city of Buffalo.
Till we get to Buffalo".
HI! could you post the Greek song "Thallassa"? I cannot find it anywhere & my old LP has lost its grooves - worn out!

@100tedreilly I'm afraid I know not neither song or author you are looking for(assuming they are not he Weavers)... the very only song they sang in greek was Yerakina, I believe... thanks for watching.

I haven't heard this version since I was a kid like 35 years ago. God! I love this song! This is very difficult to find.

@SuperDachshund This is why I keep posting songs: the joy of my listeners, even if few...

Lordfearsage the lyric is ...The cook she was a grand ole gal. She wore a ragged dress.
We hoisted her upon the pole as a signal of distress.

I truly thank you for helping me in such a difficult but pleasant work that is writing down the lyrics of a song that is not in my native language (and sorry if I made any mistake in this message, too)
