READ BEFORE WATCHING: This video needs a little explanation. It doesn't follow the series plotline at all. Rather, it is my attempt to cover the remarkable last few chapters of Christy, the novel by Catherine Marshall, while using the existing show footage. If you know the book, I hope the video is self-explanatory. If you're unfamiliar with the book, you should read it ASAP. But in the meantime, here's a breakdown of the events portrayed in the video:
-Zady Spencer tells Christy that her mama is sick.
-Christy rushes to Fairlight, only to find her delirious and dying of typhoid.
-Christy is numb through Fairlight's funeral, but afterwards finds herself questioning her faith and God himself in the wake of her friend's death.
-Lundy Taylor comes down with typhoid next, and Christy helps nurse him.
-Dr. MacNeill needs more medical supplies, but can't go after them, because he has more patients to see. He sends Christy after them, and she finally sees what's in the doctor's locked room: a laboratory, pharmacy, and an old chest full of his wife's clothes (in the book, Margaret really did die - of typhoid).
-Rob Allan brings word that Ruby Mae is sick. Christy and Miss Alice go to nurse her. They are at her side through the night.
-In the morning, Christy is so happy to see Dr. MacNeill arriving that she runs out to greet him.
-Dr. MacNeill tells Miss Alice and Christy they did just what they should for Ruby Mae, then tries to get them to go home and rest. Miss Alice tells him to go home instead. He takes Christy with him, on his own horse because she's too exhausted to ride herself. As they ride, he tries to convince her to go back to Asheville, then when she won't gives her a ton of instructions for avoiding infection.
-Miss Alice tells Christy the full story of Margaret and Neil's marriage.
-Bird's-Eye Taylor (on the run and accused of the murder of Tom McHone) returns when he hears Lundy is sick, and stays around the mission to help, with Miss Alice's blessing, and despite David's resentment.
-David and Christy fight about her wanting to bring Zady Spencer (the latest typhoid victim) to the mission to nurse and her refusal to go home to her parents.
-Lundy is recovering from the typhoid, but is still supposed to be on a liquid diet, to avoid perforating ulcers. He goes looking for solid food, despite all warnings.
-Zady Spencer is brought to the mission house and successfully nursed through typhoid.
-Christy spends a day helping a recovering Bessie Coburn tend her dying mother and clean her house.
-Christy goes to accept David's proposal, and they end up arguing instead. Among other things, he accuses her of feelings for Dr. MacNeill.
-Lundy Taylor eats hard-boiled eggs and dies of perforated ulcers and his own stupidity.
-Bird's-Eye Taylor confesses that Lundy killed Tom McHone. Opal understands and forgives Bird's-Eye, but David struggles.
-David has a crisis of faith. Miss Alice and Christy try to help him through. Then Christy collapses with typhoid.
-Christy's dreams and delusions include David shooting and killing Bird's-Eye Taylor. David comes to reassure her it's not true.
-Christy dreams of her first meeting with Little Burl.
-Christy is dying. She is given a glimpse of heaven, all light and joy and the beauty of the mountain meadows. And Fairlight is there, radiant and happy. She wants to join her, but finds she can't. Something is calling her back.
-Dr. MacNeill is by Christy's bedside, pouring out his love for her, his anger at God, and finally his surrender to him.
-Christy feels the power of that love and knows why she can't leave: Neil still needs her. She awakes and reaches for his hand.
-As for the end, I can't say it any better than Catherine Marshall: The joy of the children was in his face.
Oh man, this is a perfect video. I cannot believe you were able to put these chapters together from bits and pieces of the series. It's astounding...and absolutely beautiful.

Thank you so much! I was surprised and pleased at how well it came together, too. I've always thought it such a shame that they never did cover the end of the book in the series. On the other hand, I don't think I could have dealt with Fairlight dying, so maybe it's for the best, after all.

Wow that was REALLY well done. Kudos!! I wish the show would have followed the book more closely myself, but they're both awesome in their own right. Really nice job with the video and song. :)

Thank you so much! I actually just rewatched the episodes and reread the book at the same time, and was astonished at what a *good* job they did at following parts of the book. Granted, the Margaret thing was not the smartest move, but she had TB, so they could have killed her off later. But my least favorite episodes are the ones I feel go against the style of the book - The Hostage and Second Sight - so I do agree with you, in that way.
