This is the first time I totally disagree with Matthew. I think Matthew knows deep inside this movie isn't up to his standards. He tries to excuse it by saying "it isn't the best movie ever made, but..." Hell, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" isn't the best movie either, but I still recognize it's bad! Big thumb down for you this time, Matthew.

My standards heavily depend on what kind of film I'm watching. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers wasn't even very good by a kiddie action film standard. Independence Day hits the sumar action mark perfectly.

Saying "this isn't greatest movie ever made" was not an attempt to "excuse" the films flaws. In fact, it was said in order to concede that I recognize the flaws but value the movie as a whole regardless.

You know what, not everybody watched this movie in sumer. I don't care if a movie is sumer, winter or fall. I only care whether it's a good movie. And this certainly is not. I can't really understand how somebody intelligent enough to see the value of Nemesis fail to see how ridiculously stupid and vomit inducing this movie is.

But keep reviewing, I'm still your big fun! And btw good luck fixing your house and whatever bothers you.

"Summer movie" doesn't necessarily mean "movie you saw in the summer". It means "Movie you would expect to see in the summer."

Moreover, I never said the movie wasn't stupid, but that doesn't automatically make it bad either. Most people hate Independence Day for what kind of movie it is rather than anything having to do with the movie its self.

But in any case, thanks for watching and for the well wishes. I think nature is done kicking my ass for the moment, lol.

Some films are so bad they are good, some films are so bad they make you wanna puke. This yank wank is the latter. It made me embarrassed, no other movie has managed that.

I think that because you can hear the gun ALMOST firing its natural one would imagine it "backfires", but I think they put in the sound to make it more dramatic. Like he "hit it JUST in time", a second more and it would have fired.

Correct, the explosion is more from the build up of energy required to fire the weapon.

The plane is like a match, and the weapon is a gas tanker.

Also, suicide missions are not required. You'd only have to hit it with a missile.

I always thought that, for all the damage the death ray could do, it was kind of realistic how it was blown up. Just think about it: it discharges a whole lot of power. A machine that does that, even if its from an advanced, space faring civilization, theres no reason to suppose it wont critically overload and malfunction, causing it to explode, if a plane crashes into it as its about to fire.

Its not that it "backfired" because of the plane.
