Leicester PC Harvey Watson put on an addition to his uniform today (July 14) -- a gown that indicates he is a Master of Laws.
He was given the honorary degree by the University of Leicester after being nominated by the students.
PC Watson said: "This honour means a lot more because it came from the students. It means the students recognise the job we do as a team is valuable.
"I live and breath the job. I'm never off duty, I'm constantly on my BlackBerry at home. There is no other job like it."
The university has been in PC Watson's beat for the past five years. He has built up huge followings for his Facebook and Twitter accounts among the students, as well as seeing them on patrol and dealing with individual incidents.
He uses these accounts to spread crime prevention messages, appeal for information, and give a taste of his cheeky sense of humour.
