It is called by many names: The Great War, The War To End All Wars, World War I. The conflict that engulfed the world between 1914 and 1918 left an indelible mark on the 20th century and shaped the world in which we live today. In this informative program, you will learn about the tumultuous events that led to World War I, the nations that were drawn into the conflict, the Russian Revolution and the rise of communism, how the submarine and airplane altered the nature of combat and how the peace treaty virtually assured a second world war. "World War I-Cause and Effect" tells the complete story of the first modern war.

  • @Kafatasci35 I do not think anybody would have"won". Although I agree that the Central Powers were in better posistions when the cease fire was called.

  • Austro-Hungarian monarchy 1918 R.I.P

    Trianon 1921 :'(((

  • The black hand gang started the WW1

  • Churchill got his present in the front of Gallipoli in 1915 ;) Huge defeat of Allies.

Central powers would have won if the usa didnt enter. :)

  • @dannymaclure1 Hopeless... Besides, I'm not Italian. And I don't need an Internet translator (moreover, they make mistakes).

Yes, Versailles in 1919 was justice, just as Vienna against France in 1815, Versailles against France again in 1870, or Berlin against Germany in 1945. Warmongers got punished.

  • @Hippophilee your from italy. Good chance your using an internet translation website its not my english it is yours. Look at versaille was that justice? No that was revenge and you cant lie about it. They made germany pay harshly for no reason. Britain and France were just as bad and your opintion of just blame Germany was one of cause of ww2. I typed the other two comments on my laptop which has a faulty keyboard. So excuse the missing letters.

  • @dannymaclure1 "Germany was a peaceful nation when Bismark was in power"!!!:))

Are you talking about Prussia? Within less than 7 years (1863-1970) it attacked Denmark to steal Schleswig-Holstein, then attacked Austria (a German-speaking country), and finally provoked France (which stupidly fell in the trap). A peaceful nation indeed ! Bismark said that Germany should be united "by fire and the sword."

Again, learn some history – and English !

  • @Hippophilee No france did war monger because they hated germany when it was a peaceful nation when bismark was in power and always threatened germany.Im on my and dont pass comment on my history all you state was just two lines of general know how. There is many reasons for ww2 what i said was just one of the arguements for it starting.

  • @dannymaclure1 … Goodness, pleaaaase ! learn some history – and English too. And simple logic.

  • @Hippophilee no the whole versaille treaty was the problem it was a mes. right germany was to blame for ww2 but french was the main war monger in ww1 and what britain and france did was (i can have it you cant) they kept their weapons and bullied germany so britain and fance in way cause a chain reaction that put hitler in power.
