Does being “tough on crime” adequately replace being “smart about crime?” Over 90% of previously convicted sex offenders never re-offend. Of the next 100 sex crimes in your community over 90 of them will be perpetrated by first time offenders. Do you really want to live in a society where we never take a calculated risk on anyone ever convicted of any serious crime? Are previously convicted sex offenders the greatest threat to your family’s safety in your neighborhood?
? Or would your children be at more risk from the burgling meth cook with the previously convicted arsonist son who likes to beat people up? Me, I’ll play the odds and take the previously convicted sex offender every time.
This is a story that is repeated in every state. The lawmakers love to show they are TOUGH on crime but never take accountability for being SMART on crime. At great expense to many lives and burden to all taxpayers, this continues. The conversations about legal sexuality should certainly start at home between families. Schools should also take responsibility for real education about the ramifications of sex. Not just disease and pregnancy. We have a channel that offers some help.
Hang in there son. Hopefully there will be changes in the future.Moms, keep your girls under control. Sometimes THEY are the problem and other times definately not, yet the law is applied equally in all situations. That's not right and we all know it.
