One of the most impressive performances of the 2011 Sydney Track Classic came from Western Australian Kimberley Mickle in the Women's Javelin event. Recently returned from serious injury, the 26 year-old Commonwealth Games silver medalist managed a mighty 63.82m beating her previous best effort by 33cm. This moves Mickle to third place on the Australian All-Time List behind Louise McPaul-Currey and Joanna Stone-Nixon. Victoria's Kathryn Mitchell did occupy that third spot, however she was unable to enhance her PB. Laura Cornford did however, throwing 57.74m during this fourth leg of the Australian Athletics Tour.
