Well, I'm a Numan fan since I was 12 in 1978 (with a gap in the middle when he lost his way) and I love this. The musical arrangement is better and more powerful than any of his own later arrangements in my opinion.
Numan's approach to songwriting follows fairly simple structures, but that's irrelevant because his work affects audiences. Sugababes, however you feel about them - have also impacted upon audiences. If independent authorship is your sole judgement of a musical work then you can write off the majority of Motown recordings and a lot of 50's artists. I hate this trait of trying to authenticate pop music. This sounds great, that rhythm and synth was born for a female vocal in my opinion.
ok im 49 i was there...deal with it. fave album in 79 was Replicas. seen interviews with Gary and he approved this mix/song and after seeing it i can actually see why its really slick :) i hope and pray more gen y can make such a smooth transition like this and respect a truly rare talent such as Numan. rip it but pay your dues guys and the world will be fine :)
numans is a million times greater, the sugababes are fucking idiots - just cos you can sing, and producers can twiddle knobs dont mean your an artist! sounds like a great numan song with some whiney bitches in the background

Well, Gary Numan's version is far superior. The Sugababes' version just sounds a bit off.

If you can't write a song, find another line of work and leave music to the professionals.
