Dear all,

Please view and share, the time is now to speak out against BSL. The Defra consultation is underway and we have until June 2010 to make our views known. MP's have already hinted that they would consider adding more breeds of dog to the banned list.

This is unthinkable!

Please do some research and find out what has been happening to UK dogs, many have been seized and put to sleep under the current Dangerous Dogs legislation. We need change, we need the public to be safe, we need responsible dog owners, but we do not need any more dead dogs. What we do need is education that helps to prevent dog attacks and fair laws that do not target innocent dogs simply because they 'look' like a banned breed.

We have to speak up now if we want a fair deal for responsible dog owners, changes to the dangerous dogs act could affect all of us and our dogs for better or for worse and we are being asked for our opinion so please let Defra and the government know how you feel about Breed Specific Legislation, and the Dangerous Dogs Act.

If you need any help with any of the questions on the Defra consultation online (and many people are telling us that it is extremely difficult to answer some of the questions) then please get in touch with DDAWatch and we will be glad to help if we can, email -

Thank you

  • I recently looked in to the DDA and again, its a Communist Act, just as all the rest. How on Earth can you invade a person's home, take a person's pet and put the animal to sleep and the person(s) through a great level of trauma, simply based on assumption and perception and absolutely no factual evidence surrounding that individual dog? This is disgusting! I am absolutely against this act! Target the pikeys and assorted scum who abuse and wield dogs as a weapon, not the responsible owner!

  • @MegaLongshaft Thank you for commenting, sadly, until breed specific legislation is outlawed world wide, thousands more innocent dogs and responsible owners will be affected by it. The law is based on the assumption that all dogs of a certain measurement or shape will be aggressive, it is stupid and ignorant to implement such a ridiculous act, but the worst part is that it is lethal, this law kills dogs because of their appearance, regardless of their good temperament or sensible ownership.

  • @rockinfortheplanet Yeah but the problem is that legislation of this tyrannical order is allowed to be passed and undertaken by the authorities, with little public awareness. It's like the Hate Crime legislation, all grounds of arrest and conviction is solely on the victim's assumption of possible intention. There should be protests to make awareness of this cloaked tyranny that we live under. It is apparent to me that the average honest Brit has allowed too much of this to go on for too long!

  • @MegaLongshaft - I agree! We have our heads buried in the sand because the powers that be are creating a life that is hard to survive unless you just keep your head down and get on with it. We don't learn we just exist, some do what they can and sadly some have already given up.

  • Thank you to everyone who has viewed and shared the video, if enough people speak out against BSL it will make a difference! :) xx

  • Can you say "police state'?

  • an act of parliment is only given the force of law by consent watch " john harris - its an illusion" or watch some videos of "robert menard"

  • This is the first I have seen of this as I am in the U.S. I am shocked beyond belief! WTF! How did something like this ever get passed in the first place! Taking dogs from families and killing them! I don't fucking believe it.

  • there should never be any dead family dogs. if a country makes a law that your children that have not done anyting will get killed, would you stay? the dog is a family member, so if they pass laws to kill specific ones, you get the fuck out of that country. that is how you fight it. they lose a few hundred thousand taxpayers, and they'll rethink the validity of the law.

  • A marvellous video stating the facts that it is the irresponsible owners not the dogs. Which breed will be picked on next?

  • How about Banning few milion humans? I would vote for that ... There is no more dangerous animal then us.

    Great vid Maria.
