The fishing club "club de pesca" was a result of a partnership between Centro Hispano, Theresa Stabo (Angler Education Program, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources) and Tess Arenas (Office of Service Learning and Community Based Research). The mission of the program was to provide Latino youth with the opportunity to explore the outdoors through a positive activity. This pilot program was created and ran by Jannet Arenas a Nelson Institute Community Environmental Scholar and a UW-Madison senior with a double major in environmental studies and social work. Due to the success of the 2011 summer program, the fishing club will be expanded to a total of three sites in Madison, Bad River Reservation and LaCrosse this coming summer. The end of the video provides more information on the program. Please direct any questions to Jannet@micentro.org
