OHP says before the home video was recording, the paramedic assaulted the state trooper.

Witness Diana Walkup says the paramedic never touched anyone until the patrolman grabbed his arm.

UNDATED - There are more details about a confrontation earlier this week between an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and a paramedic in Okfuskee County. The incident was caught on tape as the trooper accuses the ambulance driver of not pulling over when the patrol car was trying pass him. What does the law say about who has the right of way?

It was Sunday along Highway 62 in Paden. Kenyada Davis is behind the cell phone camera. His mother was being transported by Muscogee Creek Nation EMS to a hospital in Prague.

In a statement obtained by The News On 6, paramedic Maurice White said the patrol car came within three feet of the ambulance with its lights on, eventually passing while telling the driver over the emergency radio: "You should consider checking you rearview mirrors."

Firts off, the Trooper did have his lights & sirens active, contrary to the statement made at 1:58. The paramedic should have looked in his mirror and was wrong for not initially moving aside. However, the Trooper SHOULD have handled things differently. Might I add, this isn't the first encounter for paramedic Murice White has had with law enforcement regarding non-compliance of an officer... And he too was wrong for interjecting the Trooper in his attempt to talk with the driver.

Paramedic done NOTHING wrong. Driver done NOTHING wrong. Paramedic was being the patient's advocate, which is proper procedure. Idc if the trooper was a veteran of whatever, there is no excuse for his actions and his lack of morals. I would NOT stop an ambulance EVER with a patient in the back regardless of the situation unless it was to perform CPR or to defib the patient. Whatever the police have to say, they will say when Im done with my patient. My patient is my FIRST proirity. Plain n simpl

As a Paramedic in the state of North Carolina, the cop was above and beyond the wrong person here. I'm not saying this because I work in EMS, I'm saying this because of personal experience. Your personal safety and the safety of your patient is your utmost priority as an EMS provider. What the Cop did not only didn't make sense, but would alarm me as a Paramedic that this individual was hostile. I'm not picking on cops, because they are my brother on scene. I think this guy is just exceptional.
