I ran out of room in my prior post to say I love this Kinks song & recall when it was a current top 40 single in 1969, & was pleased to see The Kinks play it live in Toronto, Massey Hall early 1970s. It was the first song they played in the set.

Today's Victoria Day in(most of)Canada(some provinces don't celebrate)!They don't celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday(May 24, 1819)as a holiday in the U.K.or in other British Commonwealth countries.Only here in Canada!We make the actual holiday on a Monday closest to May 24.When I was a kid in Ontario,Victoria Day was THE holiday of fireworks&firecrackers."The 24th of May is firecracker day," we kids chanted. I've learned this wasn't true in other provinces.Ontario was so WASP-y in the 1960s!

As I told someone else, if that show made you aware of this song then what's wrong with that? No, I didn't watch that show but so what? That's better than shows that never turn anybody onto anything but its own bullshit.

However you heard of it doesn't matter. It made you aware of it and that's what counts. I performed "Old Man River" at a bar once and a bunch of younger folks liked it because they'd heard it on Dharma & Greg. I never watched that show but I was glad they'd heard the song otherwise they'd have just sat there with no idea of what I was playing. So if this show got you here then it did good.
