East Timor, May 2002 -- Raising the flag and national anthem

Segment of the ceremonies for East Timor's celebration of independence in May, 2002, as the country becomes a democracy. At midnight,the Timorese flag is raised, to the national anthem, for the first time on the new nation.

The ceremony was introduced by Xanana Gusmao, the resistance leader who was imprisoned in Indonesia for seven years. He had just been sworn in as East Timor's first democratically elected President. Today, in 2008, he is the country's Prime Minister.

We are brother, East Timorese and Indonesian, I ve been to Kupang (My family is there) and they are very proud of being Indonesian. I know, how rich is Indonesia. There are who looks like you in Indonesia, in Bima (West Nusa Tenggara) and East Nusa Tenggara, we are brother but we broke, Im sad of the fact the imperialism divides us away,,

India is 4th biggest GDP.However, because India has a GDP that is incompatible with a population of causing life in India just as some African countries are poor.Almost 70% of Indian citizen is poor.

India is different from America, China, and Indonesia.

USA, China, and Indonesia has a GDP that according to the number of population, so that Indonesia, China, USA remain happy and conducive despite having a lot of people.Singapore is good too.

Why i choose Indonesia,not Singapore or Malaysian??

Singapore is not good as people think.Do u know??

We are import mineral water from Indonesia and Malaysia.We are can't like now without Indonesia and Malaysia.

I not choose Malaysia,why??

Because Malaysian government is close bad news about Malaysia.I know Malaysia now is actually poor and corruption widespread in Malaysia.I live at Malaysia 2001 until 2007.Corruption in Malaysia not decrease like in Indonesia.Even,increase faster.

I'm Multi Singaporean-Indonesia-Malaysia­n,and i lived at Singapore now.I'm go to Dili 1 years ago to Dili,and go to Bali,Batam,Makassar,Medan,Jaka­rta,Surabaya,Lombok.

I'm very frightened.East Timor is very2 poor.I'm confuse.The hotel,resorts in East Timor is very bad.I'm very dissapointed.

But,i'm very happy after i'm out from Dili and holiday in some city in Indonesia.

I'm agree if world say,Indonesia is great and rich.Indonesia-Singapore-Malay­sia,if i choose i will Choose Indonesia.
