If you click the link in the description box describing the meaning, you will see that I was not using the literal meaning and never intended to imply that my daughter or autistic people in general are in need of being fixed. I put "fix" in quotations on purpose, to change the meaning. I have only ever wanted Bianca to be the best Bianca she can be... but I would love to fix the system. That is what I was trying to convey. Your brother is a lucky guy to have a sister like you. :-)

I have autism (Aspergers) and I am offended by the notion of being "fixed", I am not broken.

You had me in tears. My son is Autistic and I went through the same thing. He also has been diagnosed with ADHD. This so hit home for me and I am going to share with all my spectrum friends too. They will totally understand. We are a community. Us parents so if you ever need someone who understands send me a message....seriously!! Support from other parents saved me.

While I appreciate many of the sentiments in this video, I am appalled by the idea of "fixing" the child with autism. Autism isn't something to be fixed, but rather understood and respected. I am blessed with a brother with autism, and I wouldn't have him any other way. While autism is a challenge for both those who are directly and indirectly affected, autism is part of what makes those people who they are. Autism has not broken anyone, and those with autism do not need to be fixed.

Emerald, i just watched this and then read your comments. My heart broke for you. I can't imagine how confusing this would have been for you. My son has recently been diagnosed and it's hard enough for us to get our heads around it. Stay strong - there is so much we don't know and are yet to appreciate. All the best.

exactly. same diagnoses here, with me. I just need help in understanding things. I'd said we are "incomplete", not broken

That doesn't change the fact that many of these children have absolutely miserable lives, suffer from diarrhea 12 times a day and die on the street because noone can care for them.

! have been shunned by my family for a long time, because i can not be there Normal, the only one who understood or even tried Passed away, but she gave me my first and truest form of "communication", A paintbrush- I hope that someone can give your daughter that thing, that makes her Feel like the best for of her self she can be, And if it is not you, i hope that you understand it when she finds whatever that may be.
