Mikey didn't like Smile back then. Hell, he didn't even like Pet Sounds. Brian was growing exponentially and wanted to move past the beach, cotton candy, hot dogs and caramel corn in his songs. That's why he chose to compose music with other lyricists.

@votemiles i agree, most interviewers ask the same banal beach boys shit of our main man brian. this guy actually seems to know something of the subject. ie the rise and fall of smile. i would like to see an indepth interview with brian about the evolution of his music.right from the beginning. it would make a fascinating documentary.
