well... I really like Dave, but this is a band. This is Pearl Jam!!

Can you notice the way Matt played on Soundgarden and the way he sings on Pearl Jam while harmonizes with Ed and plays.. he's a fuckin metronome and really good.

STOP saying: THIS ONE IS BETTER vs THIS ONE SUCKS.

They were/are part of Pearl Jam so they're good. Ok?

@DrummerSGX92 if fills are the topic i would suggest you to listen to WMA from VS cd of PJ's.

I'll say again good drummer , more steady for lives if you like , but he doesn't cut it.

Listen to even flow from him and Dave & you'll spot the dif.

Whatever Matt does today Dave could do tom. , Matt could never play as Dave .

I think you are getting me , 'cause i play drums as well and i can tell you an honest opinion.

He plays simple because PJ's music is sort of punky, but anyhow have you heard of Soundgarden? All of there, or most of there stuff is 4-4, 9 16, time signitures, and lots of insane fills.

@DrummerSGX92 to me Matt sounds more like your average punk rock drummer. I dont think he's better than the drummer of Greenday or the Clash's 4 the matter , i just think that PJ just wanted to simplify their sound so they can put in eddie's guitar stuff. If you ever get the chance of finding the video or mp3 of PJs unplugged as played in mtv you'll get to hear though much more than china cymbals and maybe you'll make a better opinion on DA. take care

Well if you listen to Matt from 1990 in Soundgarden he did things like hit chinas and dirty crashes, but I guess he grew up and decided that less can be more instead of trying to cloud everything up with cymbals. Of coarse when you hit a bunch of cymbals it will sound impressive. I just think Matt has much more talent and ability compared to Dave. But his style did fit PJ when they were young, 'Fuck the world' sort of additude they had during VS.

@DrummerSGX92 i'll make a guess that you're refering to Dave's habit of crushing the Sabians ?? If that's what you mean , it is true that Dave was some times too much w/t all that but still far better -to me at least- than matt.

I guess Matt maybe is a better charachter ?

Maybe suits them better nowadays and he doesn't lose rythm.

But w/t the exception of insignificance he is still worst than Dave.
