Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon explains the significance of Pesach (Passover) for the Jewish People and the Jewish State. It is a time to remember the connection between history, memory and nationhood. The connection between freedom, liberation and reestablishing our state is no more succinct than at this time of the year when in the days after Pesach, we will celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut Israels Independence Day

Wherever we are, we conclude our Seder and Haggadah with the words Next year in Jerusalem. This is a call of unity with Israel and the Jewish people.

Jerusalem must never be divided by any means. Jerusalem is the Holy, indivisable capital of the Jewish State of Israel. I am not opposed to a Palestinian state, but Jerusalem must never be divided!

When East Jerusalem was rightfully captured and annexed to West Jerusalem, Moshe Dayan declared that Eastern Jerusalem must never be given up. Jerusalem is ours, every inch of it, and its not going anywhere.

Hmm. Well, I was in Jerusalem this Pesach! Who cares what people ate on the Mayflower? Many of those people were not only not escaping slavery, they were actually on their way to it, in America. It is very difficult to realize time and again, just how dependent Israel is on the U.S.. I still hope that Obama's attempts to make peace with Arab nations might yield something beneficial for the whole world. No U.S. president has tried it yet, so who knows? (I can feel the attacks on me now!)
