This is from the Staff Concert, held on the last Saturday of the Kerrville Folk Festival on Quiet Valley Ranch in Kerrville Texas. Held anually since 1976 it is the longest running Festival of it's kind in the US. Built around the Annual New Folk Songwriters contest, the festival begins on Thursday before Memorial Day, and runs for 18 days. Staff is made up entirely of volunteers, many of them musicians themselves. Making the Staff concert is an honor because it is votes from peers that gets you on that stage.
This is John Elliot from Minnesota, with Adam Moss on Violin and Jesse Dalton on Upright Bass both from Green Mountain Grass based out of Austin Texas. On Mandolin (one that he made) is Bayard Blain from Fayettville Arkansas.
The song is Ballad Of Wallace Green & His Dog written by John Elliot.
