I met with Peter Hammill, backstage, before a solo concert at Le CEGEP de Limoilou, Québec City, sometime in 1974 if I remember well. Thanks to my friend Denis Huot, who owned a music store on St-Jean Street then. It was the In Camera Tour. Hammill was hypnotising a dog backstage just before his recital. That was amazing to watch. When we got presented to each other by Denis, I just couldn't find a word to say and Peter just told me: "Please enjoy my show, my friend, and I'll be happy..."

J'ai aussi vu Pink Floyd au Pavillon de la Jeunesse de Québec, le 10 novembre 1971, tout juste après le lancement de l'album Meddle. 3 heures de concert en quadraphonie. David Guilmour a débarqué chez moi à St-Jean-Port-Joli le 10 juillet 2005, pour regarder ma vitrine de sculptures, sur la route 132. On a jasé ensemble pendant une demi-heure! J'y exposais une grosse maquette de bateau, c'est ce qui l'a attiré. Voir mes vidéos ici pour comprendre...

Des groupes comme Gentle Giant King Crimson et Genesis ont fait leur renommée d'abord ici dans la ville de Québec, très ouverte d'esprit et très productive au plan artistique. J'ai eu la chance d'assister à une performance de King Crimson, dans une petite salle de l'Université Laval, vers 1972, peu après la sortie de leur album Islands. Mel Collins était en retard et a retardé le début du concert. Il y avait 2 mellotrons sur scène, le bonheur!

@Linstrumentiste I am the dog which Hammill hypnotized on that day, and I can say that that was the most memorable moment of my life. I've been hypnotized by many artists ever since (for whatever reason), but it was never like that again. Lady Gaga, Bieber, Radiohead (fuck them, they couldn't hypnotize a fucking squirrel!) You're right, mate, Hammill was one of a kind!

i am utterly blown away by all this, an incredible four parter. discovered at age 53!!

its like having been on an epic journey, i am altered by it.

free jazz figures in parts, so much is in there.

it seems we have four incredibly talented soloists that have formed a combo for company !!

wow. an incredible soundscape.

btw, the book on the keyboard (to fill in the gaps) looks to be Gunter Grass 'The Tin Drum' ,I've a copy here, I should sit down and re-read it.
