I'm definitely looking to pick up a few Emerson knives when I can finally put more money towards my collection. Several cold steel knives have semi-similar qualities in regards to such an opening speed and I believe they are a bit more bank account friendly.

Great review. Emerson knives are without a doubt the fastest tactical folders in the world. I am a collector and was interested in the Gentleman Jim. Now I think I must have that CQC-7V and I already have two other CQC-7s. Oh well.

totally agree about the contradiction in our lovely knife laws. The land of the free?

Awesome brother! I couldn't have said it any better!

The wave was actually designed for Seals who wanted a raised thumb ramp area for frontal thrust attacks for added safety. The quick deployment out of the pocket was an accidental added perk with that feature.

@lloydrtr Very true. I remember reading about that the wave was for the ramp and to hook another blade from the front in a fight. Forgot to mention that but thank you for adding that detail. Thanks!!

Emerson knives are excellent! I would also claim that you could use the 7V or Gentleman Jim just as hard as your SnG, but to each his own.
Is that a legit Datejust or a knock-off/montage?

@coreyt008 - Yea the 7V and Gentleman Jim are damn nice knives. And the watch, is a Stainless Datejust I bought new in 1989. I've worn it every day since. Don't have the desire to, and couldn't bring myself to buy a knock-off anything. If I can't afford something, then I just can't afford it.

Never knew there was a double edge tanto. Lost interest in the chisel cqc7 and never took a second look, clearly I should have.

@Temperdgrump - I was never interested in the chisel grind either, but really like the grind on the CQC-7V. It was released this year as one of their prestige lines but hopefully will be relaunched as a production model. Keep checking the carriers of their Prestige line if you're interested in this model or other harder to get Emersons. You can find this list on Emerson's website. Good luck man.
