One of the funnest little opera pieces to sing!
-
@JohnFalocco No this was a gala performance for Queen Elizabeth's birthday in 1986, bits and pieces of opera and ballet.

Feliz Cumpleaños Maestro.......70 y contando

@SugarTomAppleRoger He's not underrated... he's too plain, nothing especial about him. Semi-mediocre.

So, this version wasn't recorded complete, right?

Domingo has to be one of the most underrated tenors around. Why do people rubbish him? I like him much better than some others who are being mentioned here.
As for Lucia Popp. I'll not have a bad word said. This perfect little lady never does anything wrong in my book The Queen is very lucky to have attended this performance and to have seen these two great artists.

Domingo does an uncharacteristically sloppy job, which is a little bit noticeable even for non-musicians :-). But probably this was an impromptu show, so there may be extenuating circumstances. She seems superb, indeed.
Lucia Popp would give her master classes at The Juilliard School were she still alive. I always lament her death at 53.
