Stoneage family boating trip from Long Beach, California to Catalina Island in 1974, aboard the "Spring Tides", my dad's Coronado 25'. That's me in the orange beany cap.

Shot on super 8mm film, best of the best vintage stuff here, blend of modern and classic soundtrack and cut down to 3 minutes.

  • I use to work in Two Harbors, back in '94 & '95. I love it there. What was it like in the '70's?

  • Two Harbors is a special place. I don't think it was much different back in the 70's.

  • thanks for sharing this family treasure. really enjoyed it. i'm planning my first sail back to the island in many years and i'll think of this vid while i'm there.

  • We made the sail many times when I was a kid and it does bring back some great memories. Enjoy your sail back to wonderful Catalina!

She was a Islander and I became a summer worker, but My live started when I was as young as these kids, watching islander kids swimming by the peir yelling,,"throw a coin".. I ended up working for the SCI company for a few summers as a deck-hand on the Phoenix, Thats how I met my soul mate Dana Swingrover. Were now going on our 19th happy married year. God Bless Catalina!
