http://bit.ly/wheelockcollege Wheelock College student A'Amin Cissi gives a spoken word performance at a ceremony honoring Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., for his service to society. Originating from the Harlem Renaissance, spoken word is a form of poetry that makes use of social commentary. Some of the most popular and influential spoken word artists are Hedwig Gorski, Gil Scorr Heron, and Spalding Gray. It is often used to express emotions, politics, religion, and taboo subjects.

Charles J. Ogletree, Jr. is the Jesse Climenko Professor at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA. He is also the founder of Harvard Law's Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice. He was given an honorary degree by Wheelock College in 2010.
