I think his point is that panel beaters that do the preperation usually don't shoot the primer. The spray painter does. After the final coat of primer has flashed/dried and is ready for wetsanding. Spray a mist of a contrasting colour and using a flatbed sander, imperfections will exposed themselves where the misted guide coat remains.
Also, personally I wouldn't be sanding a paint job that hasn't even had sufficient time to flash off...

ya well sometimes you have a prepper who is a rubber head and you cant rely on them all the time,and sometimes you have to take their word that its good to go and then they still let you down and you have to do this.
If this moron was andy kind of expert ,he wouldnt be using the basecoat in the paint booth as a guide coat...thats what primer is for...love the side of the impala Tony....nice
