  • The movement is good but the catching seems exaggerated and kinda wrong. Are the straight shots supposed to be to the head? They look like straights to the body and if so, you should use your elbows to block rather than catching so low.

  • @bizmonkey007 Catching??? what are we catching???

  • @EffectiveArts "Catching" or so what we called it in Muay Thai, is when you stop or swat a punch down with your hand, usually just a quick misdirective tap with your palm to help set-up a counter--a jab catch to cross counter is my favorite. In the video, when your trainer throws jabs and crosses at you, you're swatting them away but you're using your elbow, creating a big opening for your opponent to counter if he decides to throw, say, a jab fake to a left hook.

  • @bizmonkey007 Oh ok... I'm actually the guy that's throwing the punches and not the one that's swatting them away... Thx for your observations...

  • @AngelofHat hiya answering a question on why the head guard, i'm a very expirianced fighter, also train alot of up and coming fighters, every person i train to bob/weve/slip and so on i make them use guards that way if they can slip fast enough with the guard on without should be easy enough and it stops the odd bit of damage
