Macca stopped by the Specialized HQ in July to work with fitter and SBCU Fit Instructor, Scott Holz, to dial in his position. Macca's fit was already pretty good thanks to years of experience and a good sense of his body on the bike, but Scott still found a few things that could be improved.
Macca moved from a 133 Toupe to a more supportive 155 Romin. With the help of the BG Data System Scott also showed Chris that he was bending a great deal in his neck, rather than rotating his pelvis, in order to reach his very low aero bars. Since his pelvis was already in an optimal position, raising the Shiv's extensions took the kink out of Macca's neck, while maintaining his back's shape.
Congratulations Macca and Specialized: The gauntlet was dropped back at that Auburn, "training day" Triathlete magazine interview and clearly this was the year a champion was going to have to make the decisive move on 180km bike course.
