  • It varies. There is no real proper weight...unless one digs up the Zen Nihon Iaido Renmei manual from 1960 and says that it is the only weight that exists. Usually, a good sword weighs in at 400-1,000+ g depending on the metal, furniture and wrappings. The steel and the balance of metals is important in deciding that as well. So the only way one can tell is by weighing a sword to see!
