I made these recordings back in the early to mid 1980's on a Panasonic RQ-3095 mono tape recorder, using Tracs brand cassette made by Michigan Magnetic's Inc. Helicopter sounds are from "Pink Floyd - The Wall" 1979 Columbia LP record, Motorcycle sounds are from "Bewitched"- 1960's comedy TV show episode where Serena magically comes into the Stevens home living room at 3 am on her motorcycle.

Next sound effects I recorded using a 10 inch speaker from a 1949 Montgomery Wards - Airline radio as a microphone plugged into microphone jack on the Panasonic RQ-3095 mono tape recorder, brushing the cone with small paint brush to give the effect heard on the second half of this video.

Transferred to digital using stereo gear on background photo.

  • Another brick in the wall.

Yes! that is where the helicopter sounds came from. Thank you for checking it out...Friends, Lloyd.

  • thanks. I used to make tons of cassettes, just fuckin around and making sounds, and discovering the joys of recording.

I did that allot as well, this is a small sampling of what I had from my younger recording days...One of my friends did similar experimenting with photography as well back then, creating many bizarre, and abstract photos...Friends, Lloyd.

  • I used to have a tape recorder / player like that when I was a kid. I used to sit outside on summer nights, on the hood of my dad's 1964 Chevrolet Impala and play all my long since played out, home made, 1950's recordings.

It would be cool if you still have the original home made 1950's recordings, not so much the cassette copies that you listened to on the hood of your dad's 1964 Impala, but the original 1950's master copies themselves, if they are still around, and working. You could transfer them to CD, and the computer. Likewise, if you only have the cassette copies, & they are not to played out yet, they could be transferred to CD/computer...Thank you for checking out my video...Friends, Lloyd.
