  • Anyone having a go at this are obviously morons who can't see the genius of the man. Remember the time in which he was around and take that into account. Apologize for my country?! You first wanker!!!

  • The Phoney War, also called the Twilight War by Winston Churchill was a phase in early World War II from September 1939 until May 1940 marked by few military operations in Continental Europe, in the months following the German invasion of Poland and preceding the Battle of France. The great powers of Europe had declared war on one another, yet neither side had committed to launching a significant attack, and there was relatively little fighting on the ground.

  • @gardenstate78 Here, here! Well spoken, gardenstate78! Wankers like that have no sense of history or gratitude!

  • Look, to those who dont like dont watch. Simple. In his day he was top class, hence why he was such a big name. He is known still today, people are still listening, after over 70 years!

  • ...for damn sure he'd be singing another tune if he WERE ACTUALLY up on th' ...line during the fighting(many an artists' voice and repertoire of skill(s) were forever silenced upon those fields-of-battle) ...be this as it may- the music & voices of these minstrels and crooners were/are a 'god'-send of relief to those who did/do the fighting, the cognisant wounded and just plain, lonely soldier- far away from home...no matter where, "home" was/is. ...or who/colour the serviceman/woman was/is...

  • @inkey2 I agree,but the bloke was not a genius

  • @rolflmaoweeee (part 2)......is he a genius?.....it's a matter of degree I suppose. How many people can get up on stage, play their instrument well, sing in tune....(with decent tone).......draw the audience "in", be loved by millions and make a large sum of money as well.....not many. Is he charlie chaplin? Lennon & McCartney? Probably not.....but he is a damn good entertainer within the old time Vaudeville genre

  • @rolflmaoweeee (part 1) I Am an American and discovered Formby quite by accident here on youtube. I was looking up things pertaining to "Banjo-Uke"......I can look at this from an unbiased view because I never heard of him before a montha ago. Also I am a guitarist learning uke. Here is my take on him......His act is deceptive because he makes everything he does look so damn easy, when it isn't. I have been working on his type strum for a month and can't do it.....(see part 2)

  • @gardenstate78 people really do overuse the word "genius" for people,he was not a genius ffs....leonardo da vinci was a genius, albert einstien was a genius..george formby was not a fuckin genius,he was an entertainer that sang in a very silly way and looked ridiculous.

  • @hyege H e was probably a nice bloke ,but come on lets have it right those songs he sang and the way he sang them was fucking ridiculous, brilliant entertainer?? legend??? dont talk shit. Keep your comments to yourself lil child

  • george formby is a legend and no1 can ever say anything less :)
