creating your own rules on the fly, for whatever reason, is never ok.
if a decent judge was in the room the case would have been thrown out and all evidence with it putting the cops back how ever much time of work.
This cop put the entire case in jeopardy because he's a nosey fuck.
with what he did this guy and all his friends should, by law, be off the hook.
of course the judge gets to create her own rules and laws as she sees fit cause its not a US court w US law

It wouldnt matter because -- assuming that letter was some kind of hit list ( which apprently he was part of the mexican mafia) with that information he cops could take aciton to save many lives. ( of the people on that list)
