With more and more airlines charging passengers to check bags, there's never been a better time to look into services that will ship your luggage--and won't give the airlines a chance to lose it. Shipping your bags does usually incur a higher cost than you might otherwise face, but think of all the time and headaches you'll save bypassing the baggage carousel, not to mention the time you'll save at check-in.

  • I was waiting at the luggage arrival belt at the airport this one time when I saw a bag that looked exactly like mine, so when it comes up I take it up and then some guy is like"what are you doing with my bag". I freaked and then said I thought it was mine. LOL fun times.

  • Holy shit this guy is a moron / Jewbag deluxe that only seems to spend money on time effective solutions without worrying about his wallet (Most likely the money he's been saving from being a grubby douche his whole life). I work at a shipping center that include services by USPS, FedEx and DHL. Shipping costs are higher than ever right now due to oil prices and shipping a heavy 30 to 40 pound bag across the country will be MUCH MUCH more than 40 dollars. More in the 100's range. • COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL THANKS

  • I've had a bad run of luck. The past six times I've traveled and checked bags, they have lost my luggage, and once included a military funeral where I was an escort. The airline lost my bag containing my uniform. It was a huge nutroll.

Now, I usually mail a box of clothes friends or family where I'll be staying, or to the hotel, but they usually only do this after I've made a reservation. Besides, I rather like not schlepping a suitcase. I'd rather mail a box.

  • Here's a sure fire way to not lose your bag.. don't check one. Don't ship one. Pack less and carry-on. You can thank me later.

  • @electrogeek77 About 1-1.5% was at least temporarily lost-a lot depends upon teh airline. To ryonni123, international is a different kettle of fish than domestic.

  • this guy talks as if all baggage you check in is automaticly shredded up. I usually fly from manchester (UK) to alicante (Spain), and for the price it would cost to transport me and my familys luggage, we could have purchased tickets on a low cost airliner, and had our luggage on there.

  • Also, not to sound snotty, but in my experience, I've had more issues with delivery services than I've had with checked baggage.

  • I'm curious, how much of all baggage checked got lost in the last year?

  • and not only that but airline companies are now charging the cargo luggage so its tru do the math and see which one is a benefit American Airlines charges 15 dollars for each cargo bag from my last trip,
