"Preserve, Protect and Defend" is an award-winning, 16-millimeter film created by the Public Affairs Section in the 1970s.

The film was a part of the Michigan State Police Training Academy dedication at the State of Michigan's Secondary Complex on May 29, 1975. Joined by Gov. William Milliken, several retired state police directors and other dignitaries, Colonel George Halverson presided over the ceremonies.

The 89th Trooper Recruit School was in progress when the Training Academy was dedicated. This would be the first recruit school to go through the current-day facilities.
