Captain Electric and Battery Boy is the code name for a collection of garments that directly address issues of power consumption and sustainability by creating body-worn, textile-based living organisms. We propose to develop three wearable artifacts, called Sticky, Itchy, and Stiff, that constrain body motions in a variety of ways. Responding to the need to address long-term sustainability in new technology development, Sticky, Itchy, and Stiff will both passively harness energy directly from the body and actively allow for power generation by the user. Depending on levels of discomfort and extenuation, as well as the desire to supersede the limitations of the human body, the garments will produce varying amounts of energy to fuel themselves. This is called parasitic power. The garments will then use that power to move and change state on the body.
