CHECK OUT IN A LONELY PLACE COMPLETE VERSION MARK SEVEN !!!!!! CONTAINS UNEDITED FULL LENGTH TRACK AND ALSO VERSION SIX WITH ADDITIONS AND OTHER VERSIONS FROM APRIL AND MAY 1980!!!!! in a lonely place, probably the heaviest track in the history of 'rock'. Ian curtis's final and greatest masterpiece, where he tells the world he will soon be dead, the lyrics are told as is if he is already dead, 'caressing the marble and stone', and he even tells us how he is going to do it, 'hangman looks round as he waits 'cord stretches tight then it breaks' . This song has only been available (not counting the superb new order seven inch version) as a 2 and half minuites on heart and soul. Last year a (deliberately messed up) 30 second clip appeared on the net for one day then disappeared. So ive stuck the clip in between two slices of heart and soul, and given it a bit of a spruce up, the result is a flawed but very worthwhile 5 minuites plus version of IALP. I will try to improve the sound quality in coming months . happy listening MARK FOUR NOW UP PROBABLY BEST ONE YET.

  • This is the last song IC recorded, and Sumner and co can claim with a straight face that they had no clue he was going to kill himself?! Don't try and pass that nonsense off as truth, Bernard, especially since you were there at his side when he tried to top himself with pills earlier in 1980. That coulda been seen as a hint of his mood, no? The fact is, his bandmates were not really his pals and simply did not care that he was in pain. Not that they were required to....still callous as hell.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 That's a load of shit. If you're familiar with Ian Curtis' life then you'd know that that's not the case; if you know anything about suicidal people, you should know that's not the case.

  • @Useless2112 i largely agree, a friend of mine killed himself in the early eighties aged 23, everyone was shocked as he seemed the happiest person out....... to almost everyone......... generally men in their early twenties dont pick up on that, they are mostly self centred. Although In ians case he did have two attempts in three months, the slashed wrist and overdose, maybe more should ahve been done, but ian was a master of disguise, except ironically in his lyrics.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 the band knew he made 2 attempts but probably dident think he would go all the way, promises WERE broken, like the plan to take 6 months off from touring because of his worsening fits, only to organise a tour of the US. Still ian would go on as he dident want to let the side down, bernard especially asked if he was ok and even tried hypnotherapy, gigs in april were well spread and many cancelled but still had a big fit at moonlight and blackouts at derby, tragic.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 What a completely callous and groundless statement. I like you to go up to barney, hooky and morris and say that straight to their faces like you have here.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 there is no turning back the clock. so let the reticent poet be heard - and watch him dance his one of a kind dance...

  • @danwolski it does now danny boy

  • i just wish ian hadn't died

  • so emotional

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 My, what a smug self-righteous shit bag you are....

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 yep i think u hit the nail on the button. it is no co incidence that he killed himself just before the usa tour. his bandmates were pissing him off. this was his response. his death. like saying lads sod off!!

  • It sounds like they were starting to write Martin Hannett´s psychoacoustics into their written music by the end, in anticipation of going into the studio.

  • @wawawis Not all people. Trust me. I had to learn how to surround myself with good people. It takes a lot of work and is a challenge, but worth it.

  • @birdandthe Not to mention, back then there wasn't the help that is out there now. People weren't so open about their emotions and afraid to discuss many things, especially something as serious as taking your own life.
