All departments choose a song and decorated their area around the meaning of the song. A story board told the meaning of the song.

The song we picked is called Give Love on Christmas Day and was originally performed by the Jackson 5 in 1970.

The song speaks about giving the gift of Love at Christmas. There is no greater gift than Love.

This Christmas we [here at the Radisson Lax] remember acknowledge and appreciate the brave men and women who have answered the call of duty and put on the uniform of the U.S. Armed Forces, whether in war or peace.

Some volunteered. Some were drafted. Some were called up from the reserves or National Guard. All of them accepted inconvenience, hardship, loneliness, danger, and the risk of illness, injury and even death, to defend the United States of America.

For us, they put their lives on hold.

For us, they put their lives on the line.

For us, they left friends and family, home and hearth, good jobs or bad, good times and bad, to join the military — to protect and defend the country we all love.

In the past 10 years, the number of the nation's veterans has increased dramatically, as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have demanded extraordinary sacrifice from untoward numbers of young men and women as well as older, more experienced officers. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs now estimates that there are approximately 25 million living American veterans. Sadly, the percentage of veterans living with service-related disabilities has also risen sharply in these 10 years, as well as the need to care for them and find good jobs for those who are able to work.

This year, we welcome home a record number of veterans as The President withdraws our troops from Iraq by the end of the year. They will need jobs, housing, counseling, medical care, family services — the list goes on. And they deserve everything we can give.

Today, we honor our veterans. Tomorrow, we can't forget them
